Get there early enough
In the past years, one could get to the airport even an hour prior his or her flight but today; things have changed that you need to be at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight. By giving yourself adequate time, it is an opportunity for you to cover the unplanned circumstances. Usually many are left stranded at the park waiting in a hope that there will be pick up by shuttle and end up spending about half an hour and this comes with lots of complaints as they are left in fear of missing their flight for cases of delay by van. To avoid this, we encourage that you get to the airport 3 hours before the flight.
Pack light
Depending on what kind of trip you are planning for, what is most important is that you need to pack lightly and our advice is always start with essentials first. There is no need for you to carry all that you have in the house and have at least a carry-on bag. This won’t only relieve you from the stress of carrying it but also time while on check in at the counter.
Plan appropriately for your route
Whereas some people are of a view that getting lost is part of fun and adventure while on a road trip, to others, better to get to a dream destination with no stress of getting lost. Most importantly, you need to have a map to help in identifying directions to places you are to visit as well as areas for you to make stopovers. Also find out which routes must be avoided for cases of traffic or road works to save time and have less stress. Besides, do not over rely on GPS as some routes are not that accurate or rather up to date.
Check your car
Whether you intend to use your personal car or car rental, it is always important for you to check if the car you are planning to use for a road trip is in better mechanical conditions. Ensure that oil, coolant and screen wash have been filled up and the tyres have enough pressure while the brakes, lights, power steering as well as wipers are all working. Do thorough check up on the car you are to use especially for car rentals and see if there are no scratches, damages that may add unplanned cost to you at the end of your road trip.
Keep yourself entertained
Long trips always come with too much boredom and the best you can do is to find way to keep yourself entertained plus other members in the car. If you are on a road trip with children, you can get along with tablet computers for them to keep themselves busy with games and others. Also, you need a complete compiled CD or alternatively make a playlist on your phone or MP3 player.
Fuel up
Depending on the destination you intend to explore, note that most rural areas do not have fuel stations for you to refill the tank of your car and that is why we encourage that you take advantage of fuel station in a nearby town you come across. Also take note of prices as every fuel station may have its own rates. A side from fuel, you also need enough energy snacks to keep you energized while on road trip.
