A local musoga has become a hero after killing a 25ft crocodile believed to have eaten over six women and children including his 8 months pregnant wife as they went to fetch water on Lake Kyoga. Mubarak Batambuze, a resident of Kibuye village found within Kaliro district has been suffering since the monster crocodile attacked and snatched his pregnant wife four months back and when he heard it had come back; Mubarak started planning his revenge to finally put an end to this beast that had terrorized the village for over a year.
He first visited the black smith who crafted for him a special spear that had barbed wire on the sides making it more ruthless, he gathered some friends and they went to the crocodile’s hide out to confront the monster but as soon as his friends so the giant beast, they ran off leaving Mubarak alone but this didn’t deter him from attacking and spearing it in the belly. The fight lasted for over 50 minutes until it couldn’t fight no more, he had won and become a hero of the village.
Blame has been put on UWA for failing to reply to the villagers calls to relocate these crocodile to protected areas where they can’t attack people. The Kaliro chairman had called for UWA to compensate for his loss but an UWA official John Opia clear said that there are no compensations for people killed by wild animals.
This is really good news for the locals of Kibuye village as UWA has also stepped up efforts to relocate these crocodiles to either Murchison falls park or the Zoo.
